Hello Readers,
Most of the world wants the ceasefire between the US and Iran to hold. However, it would seem that Israel may not like it, as they started the war by convincing the US to attack Iran. Trump was talking about peace and hoping to get the Nobel Peace Prize. However, he has done the reverse, starting a war in the support of Israel. Now the whole world looking is looking poorly at the US, while Israel is mostly out of the news.
A team under Vice President J.D. Vance was supposed to talk with Iranian officials at Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad in high-level talks. However, there are conflicting reports on whether or not Vance actually had the meeting. This could be due to security reasons, as talks on Friday were at Oman.
As of Tuesday, President Trump announced that he was extending the deadline for a deal, keeping the ceasefire in place. Despite that, the US still has a blockade of Iran’s ports, not allowing that nation to do anything in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said that there will be another meeting early next week. However, Iran minister Araghchi said no date has been finalized yet. There are many issues between Iran and the US, and both countries are reluctant to negotiate on some of their main concerns like nuclear development, control of the Strait of Hormuz, a $2 million toll for the passage of tankers, and reimbursing damages in Iran by the US.
According to reports, the best three cities to live in New Jersey are Montclair, Princeton and Ridgewood. These cities are excellent when it comes to schooling and downtown living, including safety. If anyone wants to know about upscale living, two cities came top; Short Hills and Alpine. Millburn-Short Hills provides upscale living, high scale shopping and easy access to trains.
Gun violence is ramping back up. Locally, there was a shooting at a Chick-Fil-A. Nationwide, there was a tragic shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, where a man killed eight children, seven of which were his own. Police killed him in a firefight. Ex Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax killed his wife and himself. As per reports, he was drinking heavily. It is sad what is happening right now.
The Newark Election is very close now, with only three weeks left. Mayor Ras Baraka is leading in the polls as I’ve heard. Any candidate in Newark must get over 50 percent of votes to avoid a runoff election, which would be contested by the two leading candidates. Although there are many candidates running for mayor, the only one with any real support is Baraka.
No one knows the actual outcome of the election. Many residents who have lived there for many years are not happy due to high prices on food and essential items, especially rent. Let’s see what happens on May 12, 2026.
