Hello Readers,

On November 1, 2025 we will have our silver jubilee issue. We have a goal to improve the quality of life for the people we serve. We kept our eyes open and tried to bring the right and best news possible. A newspaper is the mirror, and we tried our best to keep the readers informed as close to the truth as possible.

Hard work is the key to any newspaper. The news is always floating around and we have to grab the news to the best of our ability. All the news floating in the media may not be the truth. We search for it and get the best possible information for our readers.

I must thank our Local Talk team, our readers and our advertisers, who have kept us financially viable.

The first NJ gubernatorial debate was held between Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli. I, like a lot of people, did not see it because it was poorly promoted. However, our Content Editor Kristopher Seals saw it, and said that neither of them impressed.

“I don’t get it. Jack got his best lines in during the press gaggle AFTER the debate, while if you play a drinking game where you take a shot every time Mikie says ‘Trump,’ you would be plastered in less than five minutes,” Kris said. “Can we get someone else please?”

President Trump is scaring our old rules. He has announced a $100,000 H-1B Visa Payment to all new H-1B applicants after September 21, 2025. The H-1B Visa application is for highly educated people that companies need to enhance their products or technology. This will stop all the best brains from being hired by large companies. Now, if any company needs a really learned and top quality brain, they must pay $100,000. As you all know, most of the people coming from abroad do not have $100,000. So, the company that invites them must pay that fine or tax or penalty. From what I was told, the purpose of this rule is to force companies to hire people here, but they might not have the knowledge, so it could be a big problem.

Ryan Routh, the gunman who attempted to shoot Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida, was found guilty of an assassination attempt by a Florida Grand Jury. As the news states, he has tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen on the desk. His daughter screamed and the US Marshals stopped him from doing further damage to himself.

New Jersey PBS, which was funded by WNET, is the parent company of Thirteen, the PBS New York affiliate. PBS is expected to cease its operations in July 2026.It’s a blow to free public television to the public. As you all know, more and more channels are coming up and all of them are private companies owned by large corporations. So, eventually TV viewing may become costlier to all.

Former governor Chris Christie stopped the funding, so PBS had to find new funder. This year, the government cut about $750,000 and from next year, the funding will be zero. We are electing our representatives, but the majority are trying to support money and powerful people, who raise their election contributions. We the voters should wake up and change the public officials every now and then, despite his/her/their popularity.

Jimmy Kimmel, a late night TV host, was suspended after making controversial remarks about Charlie Kirk’s shooter being a part of MAGA. ABC took his show off the air for about a week. By the time you read this, he would have returned from suspension. However, distributors like Sinclair and Nexstar said they would not broadcast the show until he apologizes for the remarks.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
