Hello Readers,
The world is going crazy. Conservative figure Charlie Kirk was murdered in cold blood last week. Some even call it an assassination. Kirk was 31, and had a wife and two children. The shooter, identified as Tyler Robinson, is facing several charges. If found guilty, he will likely get the death penalty. While people may have different politics, it is sad to see some take the life of another person over it. We have freedom of speech in the US, which means we should be able to express our beliefs without fear of persecution, or losing our life.
President Trump is part of it as well. Why are we protecting Israel? We know about the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. However, all we hear about now is how they are hurting the people of Palestine, especially in Gaza strip, and not Hamas, who was actually responsible for October 7. Yes, Hamas is a problem, but they are killing a hundred thousand or more people of a population of over 5 million in Palestine and about 2.2 million people in Gaza Strip who are innocent.
Palestine has been divided into two parts: the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Both areas are not connected and if someone wants to go to the other area, they must go through Israel. The Gaza strip has a population of about 2.2 million people. When I visited with our group of about 107 representatives in 2007 as an Ambassador of Peace, we only visited the West Bank and the people were very nice over there.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and 13 police officers up to the rank of captain has been sued for sexual harassment. This news came at the juncture of the proposed 2025 Newark City Budget being introduced. The record breaking Newark City budget is about $970 million. In 2024 it was $914.5 million, and in 2023 it was $823 million. Every year, the burden falls on the residents.
There are some who live in the city and believe firmly that Newark is their home and they love Newark. However, they may have to move due to high rents and higher cost of living. When you vote for your representative, they do what is best for their group, not the voters who elect them. So that’s why I keep on saying many times, do your research on all the candidates and then vote for the right one. Do not hesitate to change who you vote for if that person turns out not to be good for the people they serve.
President Donald Trump is suing the New York Times for $15 billion, as he posted on his social media platform, Truth Social. A spokesperson for New York Times called it “an attempt to stifle and discourage independent reporting” and added that the suit has no merit.
ABC news and CBS news’ “60 minutes” have done outside court settlement for hundreds of millions as I’ve heard. The AP reports: “The lawsuit names a book and an article written by Times reporters Russ Buettner and Susanne Craig that focuses on Trump’s finances and his pre-presidency starring role in television’s ‘The Apprentice.’”
A legendary star in Robert Redford has died at the age 89. In the 1970s he was the most popular and a heart throb for many young girls in that day.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
