Hello Readers,

I am writing this on Tuesday, Sept. 30. By the time you read this, the nation may very well be under a government shutdown. Right now, there seems to be no progress from Republicans and Democrats on a temporary extension of the budget. This is unusual, because both parties have different agendas.

However, the taxpayers will suffer. Whenever the government shuts down, most of the services will not be available for the people. Usually, when the budget is adopted, the government has to pay back salaries to all the government employees. It’s politics. Most of the people in the US do not understand the politics. But they have been drawn to the party system. There is also a chance that the Trump administration could fire some of the laid off employees in an effort to save money.

Local Talk’s Silver Anniversary is one month away. Our main goal is to uplift the quality of life for the people who live in the Local Talk community. However, from what I expected, it has not improved accordingly. Politics is the killer of the growth of quality of life. Nepotism, personal gain, friends, cronyism and money affect politicians.

I don’t blame them. You are accepting the tax increases for years to come and less services for years to come, but they flatter you all the time. You choose them and their team without any problem. That means you the citizens are happy with the tax increases and less services. They know that your vote goes to them and why should they care otherwise.

At the same time, they have to listen to all. It is not easy to be a politician. I hope all the politicians care about their services to the public, which they have been elected for.

The shootings are going on every week in the United States. This time it was a shooting at a church in Michigan. The worst part is the suspect planted a bomb and the building caught on fire. There were about 150 worshippers gathered in the church.

The Michigan church shooting took at least 4 lives and several were injured and hospitalized. The shooter, Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, was shot and dead by police in a parked car nearby. However, the atmosphere is very bad. The culture is getting worse as the days go by. The youngsters are very bright when it comes to answers on the net, but when it comes to communicating with people around them, their attitude is getting worst day by day in my opinion. My family is not excluded. They are learning from the same society.

President Donald Trump and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had two different messages when they addressed assembled generals and admirals. First, Hegseth outlined changes to military policy and philosophy. By a set of 10 directives, he wants to change the culture around fitness, race and gender. Trump followed Hegseth’s speech and called to embrace the virtues of lethality as a doctrine. He suggested that the military should target US cities and civilian populations as a training exercise. Like training in communities like Chicago and many other cities, who are controlled by the Democratic Party.

Trump said, “We should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military.” He mentioned Illinois governor JB Pritzker as a bad administrator. However, it is up to the people of Illinois to decide, not Trump.

NJ Democratic nominee for governor Mikie Sherrill had some military records leaked, which showed that she did not walk in her graduation due to a disciplinary issue. However, the records also showed some private information like her social security number. It is one thing to try and play politics during election season, but it is another to be careless with an opponent. Whoever left the information unredacted should be fined, regardless of what Sherrill did.

Congratulations to a bright young voice and sixth grade student from the Bloomfield School District.  Anu Lingeswaran delivered an inspiring presentation titled, “Teamwork and Leadership – From the Classroom to the World” at the International Youth Conference.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
