There are a couple of things Trump did well regarding trying to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. He met with Russian President Putin in Alaska to discuss a proposal for peace. Then, he invited not only Ukraine President Zelensky but also Europpean leaders and the EU president for a discussion in Washington. His proposal is to get NATO members to chip in and share responsibility to protect Ukraine. If the European members work together with the United States of America, they will force Putin to agree to a peace offer by Trump.
Also, Trump played a political game, forcing other countries to not buy oil from Russia, which may impact Russia’s economy. India and China did not agree to it yet, but Trump’s high tariffs on them will impact their economies as well. I think Putin understood that and hopefully, he will come to his senses and sign a peace deal. A deal between Ukraine and Russia will be a big success for peace in the world. Trump is pushing for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. Let’s see what further developments are to come.
Trump claims that he made peace between India and Pakistan. I think he is bragging about it without doing anything. India’s commitment for peace and not to use nuclear warheads or bombs is their principle of live and let live.
On Jan. 1, 2025, the price of Gold was $2,624.49 per ounce and on August 15, it was $3,383.20 per ounce. Gold prices are based on the confidence level for the market and US dollar. The confidence level is very low, so the gold prices are higher. In the past five years, the gold prices have gone higher and higher, about 90% from 2020. On Jan. 1, 2020, Gold prices were $1,517.30 per ounce.
A Californian tractor trailer truck driver killed three people in Florida when he took a, illegal U-turn as a car was coming and ran into the trailer. The driver was an illegal immigrant from India and had a commercial license from California.
The question arises as to that how an illegal immigrant was issued a commercial license. California, a sanctuary state, passed Assembly Bill 60 (AB 60) in 2013. This bill allows undocumented immigrants residing in the state to apply for a driver’s license. However, there is no specific bill that bars the motor vehicle agency from issuing a commercial license to an undocumented immigrant as they are allowed to work legally in California.
Random shootings have not stopped. The gun lobby is so strong that politicians are scared to pass strict gun laws. We all should unite together and force our representatives to pass strict gun laws. But for that, we must restrict money flowing from the gun lobby to politicians to fund their campaigns.
