The worst plane crash tragedy in India’s history happened in Ahmedabad, India. 279 people died in the crash, 242 on the plane and 27 at the hospital cafeteria, including doctors and interns of the BJ Medical School hostel. I used to live in very close proximity there 47 years ago before I came to the US. I have family and friends who studied at the same medical college and ate in the same canteen of the hostel.
They have found the second black box and will hear the voice of the pilot to find out why it happened. It’s a mystery. Both engines failed at the same time within 30 seconds of the plane taking off.
There was a sole survivor who sat in seat no. 11A, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British National and Indian Origin is the luckiest person, and it is nothing but a miracle. He was injured but walked out of the rubble. He is somehow okay. The best wishes for his health came from all over the world. He said that within 30 seconds of the plane taking off, there was a blast (loud noise) and fire. He himself said that he doesn’t know how he survived. Ramesh said that he saw people dying in front of his eyes, including air hostesses.
On January 27, 2022, Tata Motors (who own Jaguar as well) took over Air India from the government. They already announced that they will give one crore rupees (about $116,850) to all the victims or their families. There will be many lawsuits in the coming months.
Dr. Minakshi Parikh, Dean of BJ Medical College, expressed that the shock might set in later, but she and her team were focused on the immediate task and rising to the challenge. Many doctors and students rushed to the cafeteria to help the victims and save the lives of their fellow students and doctors.
Israel claimed on June 17 that they have killed a top Iranian General. Iran will not stay quiet, as it will continue sending drones and missiles to Israel, especially Tel Aviv, which is closer to the airport and business capital as well as being affluent city of Israel. The Israel and Iran war continues, with fears of Iran being close to having a nuclear bomb, per Israel.
Russia targeted Kiev’s large apartment complexes. Ukraine targeted Moscow and Russian air bases, including military infrastructure in Russia’s five air bases. Like Israel’s war, this war too continues.
58-year-old singer and convicted sex trafficker R. Kelly was recently rushed to the hospital after medically overdosing in prison. How did he get the drugs? Did he willingly do it, or was he poisoned? There will certainly be an investigation.
The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers 120-109 in Game 5 of finals. As of this writing, the Thunder are a game away from clinching their first NBA title in 46 years history. (They were the Seattle Supersonics back then). Game six is at Indiana and Game 7 will be at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It will be interesting to watch Thursday’s Game 6.
