Hello Readers,
Thanksgiving is over. Now we all are looking forward to even more big holidays ahead. The best part of the holidays is getting together with friends and family. When we are celebrating these holidays, most of us forget about our worries, everyday struggles or even some health problems and enjoy life with those who we love the most. Happy Holidays to all of you and enjoy the season.
As we know, Rosalynn Carter passed away at 96 on November 19, 2023. She was the First Lady from 1977 to 1981. She joined her husband and former President Jimmy Carter at few days ago in hospice care. Former President Bill Clinton and current President Joseph Biden joined former President Carter to give her a final send off.
President Carter said, “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished.” Also, Vice President Kamala Harris and first lady Jill Biden joined with former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton and Melania Trump at a memorial on Tuesday November 28th in Atlanta.
Israel and Hamas have had a truce for a few days already and they extended it two more days. They exchanged some hostages from Hamas and some prisoners from Israel. It’s a really good start. I hope this will stop the genocide and killing that makes life miserable for innocent people. Fuel, food and medicines are being transported to Gaza on a humanitarian basis.
Israelis and Palestinians both are humans. Why to kill in the name of God, when God from any religion give us a simple message to be humble, to be peaceful, to be humanitarian. But some of the religious leaders with their great oratorship changes the minds of the people. I hope all the religions teach people to look out for and respect all of us first as humans, then teach the good message or prayer from the religion.
There was a huge collapse of a tunnel to be built in the Himalayan Mountains in the state of Uttarakhand. 41 workers were trapped 17 days ago. The Indian government and the State government worked day and night to rescue them. Many asked what were they doing while trapped. The best part about it is that they were given cards and food through a hole and all 41 workers were playing games, exercising regularly to keep their bodies healthy. They played physical games as well. And after 17 days of hard work, it paid off and on November 28th, all were rescued safely.
In Sierra Leone, there was a coup to overthrow the government. However, it failed and about 13 police officers were arrested. Niger’s military government stopped migrants from going through Niger, so many businesses lost business due to travel from West Africa to Europe being affected.
A 68 year old pedestrian was killed on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, NJ. Lately, I see more news about pedestrians being killed. What is the problem? I noticed that in the evening time, the black or dark outfits don’t let the drivers see the pedestrians crossing the roads, even though they were crossing at the cross walk. I request all drivers to drive carefully when it is dark to see pedestrians in the crossings. Also, for pedestrians, please wear light colored shirts or pants, so others can notice you while crossing the road. It is for the safety for both. “Better be safe than sorry.”
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
