This is the Entertainment section, am I right? So let me entertain you. This is a simple reminder — everything I do here in this space is merely that… entertainment.

Oftentimes I’m told that I should do this or that, cover this or that, and I’m much obliged if the shoe fits. Everything I do here is a work in progress. I believe that one must live in the open by doing as they please when they ain’t hurting nobody or ain’t tryin’ to. Love it or not. For me, work is play. Always has been and will always be, and the moment that it ain’t — bye. You do it, lol!

It’s all in good fun, just like this week’s draft submission. It showed up while I was scanning those streams for a bit of background noise as I wrote and while I dabbled with my fine artistry. As I scanned those inexhaustible stockpiles, I was appalled by the lack of films and/or content that represented Mocha as it should. When I did come across a few, most hit me with that slapstick or were so shallow that an ant couldn’t skinny-dip if it wanted to.

I Came across a lot that was ours that had been copped or borrowed, but not to our credit. It’s nobody else’s job to tell our stories or paint our pictures anyway. Although all our history from past to present is locked down in our DNA, them eyes could play tricks on ya — have you believing only what you see. Be it good, bad, or indifferent, a picture speaks louder than words.

If it ain’t no real stockpiles to be seen, folks get to paint you any way they want — just like AI did with my images that you see here.

Now, let’s get back to you telling the story. Start scanning around our hoodscapes, our homes, our lives, and freeze those moments of Blackness. Capture us — me and you — the living testaments so we tell our own story as should. And be sure that before you click that button or make that scan, it’s a good pic and a story that’s gonna do us forever proud.

‘Cause we got more than enough in those skimpy stockpiles that’s said to be ours — that ain’t or shouldn’t be. We must be the narrative, by capturing our authentic selves, our own story as should. So be the movie and make the movie; write the script and be the script; be that character then not. do the reel and be the real. Snap a shot and be the pic. Now that’s something that we all can do.

Black on Black is a combined project of my Fine Artistry Series — Andrea Dialect Replicated and The Black on Black Project. We got work to do!
