President Trump is trying to force India to stop buying Russian oil. According to Trump, India is highest buyer of Russian oil, which sustains the Russian economy of Russia. Originally, Trump was in talks for 13% tariffs for India, but then changed it to 25%, and then 50% from the end of August. Indian Prime Minister Modi has declined to cancel the contract with Russia and stated that for the farmers they would not fulfill the demand of Trump. Trump’s 50% tariff has not scared India. But India has started a movement already to start buying Indian products and to boycott foreign products. India has done that before, and the way social media is spreading, Indians will support Modi. If that happens, it will impact the world economy, as other countries may follow. With China, Trump has not made any changes on tariff even though China is buying oil from Russia as well.
Trump has announced a deal with Pakistan, making that nation a non-NATO ally. However, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir made the announcement in Florida that if necessary, they will use their nuclear arsenal against India in a war. The nuclear threat should not be taken lightly. Trump and his administration has not made any comment against this yet. India is a major exporter to the US when it comes to generic medicines. About 47% of US generic medicines comes from India. The cost of generic medicine will go up. Pharmaceutical companies who make tremendous profits on those medicines have to decrease their profit to sustain medical industry.
President Trump and Russian President Putin will meet this Friday in Alaska, once a Russian Territory. Alaska was a loss for Russians, so they sold it to the US for $7.2 million US dollars. It was for 600,000 miles of land in 1867, less than 2 cents an acre. Originally, Alaska was not recognized as an important land deal, but later wealth and strategic importance were recognized.
Slowly and gradually, other countries are joining to recognize Palestine as a separate state. We have 195 countries (193 members of the UN) in the world. Out of 195, 147 countries have recognized the importance of Palestine as a separate country. To stop the war, it is necessary to declare Palestine as a separate country. At the same time, Hamas is a huge problem, for Israel and for Palestinians as well. So we must find a way for Palestinians control Palestine, without the interruption of Hamas.
Trump has taken control of the Washington DC police department. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser stated that violent crime this year is down 26% so far. Can we trust these statistics? Washington DC became a violent city, and the home to so many homeless people. Washington DC is a major attraction for visitors of the world. We want to make sure that it is safer for the visitors and they can go anywhere in the city without any fear.
So far, Trump is bringing in 800 National Guard troops to DC streets, and stated that if necessary, he will bring more. US attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that 14 to 17 year olds carry guns and they cannot be arrested or prosecuted by the police department. However, the validity of that statement may be different. Once they have been arrested, they have to go to juvenile courts and may get the punishment of art classes or schooling. As I’ve heard, the drug dealers and criminals are using those juveniles for their business.
