Hello Readers,
This week, we celebrated the New Year for the Indian calendar. It is known as the Festival of Lights, and Diwali is the day Indians celebrate with joy and happiness, along with food and firecrackers. Happy Diwali to all our Indian readers.
We are coming up on 25 years since I started Local Talk Newspaper. My goal is to improve the quality of life for people. I shared my idea with the late Rev. Dr. Margaret Lucas, and she came to my office within no time.
25 years have passed by. We all have seen many changes in these communities. However, my goal is not fulfilled. From the beginning, I thought that we all are humans, and we all are equal, and everyone’s goal is to live a better, healthy and happy life. But I am not fully successful. My goal is to inspire the elected officials to improve the lives of the people. However, once they get elected, they would rather control everything and help their friends and family. I hope some politicians can be elected at the top level and work for the people. They all talk well and articulate, tricking people into believing that they are working for the people.
The system of our politics is bad. People are naïve and vote only for one party, which they like the most. However, there are other parties who want to jump into the political arena. But those parties, like the Green Party, want to get in control fast, rather than working for people on the local level. Once they get their roots into the community, they can go higher at the state level and then jump to the national level. But everyone wants to jump to the top. Work for the people first, and then work for more people at the state level. But don’t try to grab power without any community work. That is my opinion.
President Trump tried hard to get the Nobel Prize, but he failed. His plans for the truce between Israel and Palestine is on shaky ground. Hamas is not following the guidelines, while Israel is still acting aggressively in Gaza with one excuse after another. I don’t understand why the USA, the most powerful country on Earth, refuses to go against Israel, when they are doing wrong.
If Trump feels that Israel is doing wrong, he should clearly state that he will take sides with Palestine, obviously not Hamas as they are a terrorist organization.
In my opinion, we must be for people anywhere in the world. Our job should be to get peace in the world. If we take sides, it is impossible to have peace.
Trump has no plans to meet with Russian President Putin any time soon. However, Trump is trying his best, asking Ukraine to give up some land Russia has captured in the past three and a half years.
