GO PLAY
I can still remember all those numerous occasions my mama or daddy telling us to go outside. I can hear it as if it were yesterday. The next directive was that we were to go outside and play. I can see my mama right now in my head standing in that doorway of one of those rooms. Seemingly, her hands were always on her hips when being told to go. That meant that you ain’t have no other options for sure.
This collection of photos that I yanked from those fine art archives is all about just that. Even though we’re grown. Grown folk need to grow up and go outside and play. The lackluster demeanors that I oftentimes see now are too much to bear. When did that happen and why is it happening?
For the most part I think that we all have guzzled down the Kool-Aid, adhering to all those glorified scripts about what you should or should not be. My hands are on my hips and I’m telling ya to get out there and live a little and start today, why don’t ya.
Life is an adventure and not all doom and gloom. Despite those reoccurring difficulties we face in this thang called life, it is to be enjoyed. And when all those grown-ups out there dragging through are gazing at you or clutching those pearls because you’re having such fun with yo childish self, tell ’em to kick rocks and let ’em know that Andrea Dialect said it…Enjoy!

DID YOU KNOW….
Being “young at heart” means having a youthful outlook, energy, and enthusiasm for life regardless of your actual age. It’s about maintaining a positive perspective and a sense of joy and wonder.
However, being considered “childish” usually implies acting immaturely or inappropriately for your age.
Key differences
- Young at heart: Possesses positive childlike qualities like curiosity, playfulness, and optimism.
- Childish: Displays negative traits like immaturity, irresponsibility, or lack of emotional regulation, according to the American Association of Christian Counselors.
In essence, while being young at heart is generally viewed positively and is linked to good mental and physical health, being considered childish can carry negative connotations.
