Hello Readers,

New Jersey’s gubernatorial primary election on June 10th came without any surprises. US Rep. Mikie Sherrill won as expected in the Democratic Primary by a huge margin. Ras Baraka and Steve Fulop came in a distant 2nd and 3rd. In the Republican Primary, as expected Jack Ciattarelli won. The GOP result came in 20 minutes after the voting deadline of 8 o’clock while the Democratic result came in 40 minutes after the voting deadline. Jack Ciattarelli was supported by President Trump while Mikie Sherrill was supported by the Democratic machine of New Jersey.

US Rep. LaMonica McIver has been charged in the Delaney Hall skirmish. While most of the community is rallying behind her, feeling that she is being bullied by the Trump Administration, many feel that she is getting a taste of her own medicine based on how she is said to have treated people while Council President in Newark, especially at council meetings.

The world is turning upside down. More and more problems are occurring due to political reasons. The Los Angeles protests are the top story this week. Undocumented immigrants have turned Los Angeles streets into a conflict zone with the support of most of the Democrats. California Governor Gavin Newsom has refused to take action and signaled he would sue Trump over his decision to send the National Guard and 2,000 troops into the state, alleging Trump “fanned the fires” and illegally sent the national guard.

So far, there have been no deaths in the recent riots. As per the reports, current protest mainly are peaceful. There are some reports that some stone throwing on the national guards and auto burning became part of the riot as well.

Although Newsom blamed Trump, it seems like he is not interested in peace for Los Angeles and supporting undocumented immigrants. As many of you know, without the support of Mexican workers, the farming industry cannot survive. Why not make it easier for those undocumented workers to be legal and for the future, those who come to the US must come through the legal system. Also, those who are undocumented and came at least 10 or 15 or 20 years ago should be allowed to become legal. Those who came recently should be deported. We must come up with a solution.

All illegal immigrant support money must be stopped, including through the welfare system. Right now, if you are a citizen of the US, it is harder to get Medicaid and Section 8. But if you are undocumented, they have cracked the laws and get the government benefits faster.

Also, something should be in place to make sure that Democrats do not gain an unfair advantage with the new migrants. When the census is taken, the population dictates the allotted money and number of representatives, and even the Electoral College if there is enough of a shift. Anyone who came illegally after the last census should not be counted. If a state like New York wants to take in a huge number of immigrants, let them deal with it by their current number of representatives and NY state funding, not at the inconvenience of other states via federal dollars.

A 21 year old former student of the Dreierschützengasse secondary school in northwest Graz in Austria shot and killed 10 and injured 12. He died in the shooting as well. This is rare overseas, but it’s a reminder that every few months it is happening here. The government should make a commission to find out how to stop the shootings.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
