Hello Readers,
Oh no, not HIM! Yeah, it’s me. Let’s get to it.
First, the 2025 NFL Draft. In case you were wondering, Miami (Fl.) quarterback Cam Ward was the 1st overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. You might have forgotten all about him, because the story of the draft became the fall of Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders – son of “Primetime” Deion Sanders – all the way to the 5th Round at #144 overall to the Cleveland Browns. What makes it so weird is that some scouts had him rated higher than Ward and possibly going #1.
It gets weirder. Cleveland had already drafted another QB – Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel – in the third round. As of now, the Browns have FIVE QBs on the roster, when most teams have at most three and usually dress only two on Game Day.
Some people, including Stephen A. Smith, suggested that there may have been collusion among the owners to send a message to the Sanders family. Keep in mind, the same thing was said about how QB Colin Kaepernick was blacklisted from the league after kneeling during the National Anthem.
My verdict? There is ONE team in the NFL who absolutely needed a QB, and that would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. It makes no sense at all why they would not draft Sanders, especially when he slipped out of the salary rich 1st Round. Some of you may be thinking, “Maybe the Steelers didn’t want to deal with a diva QB.” One problem. They are currently courting former Jets signal caller Aaron Rodgers to be their man, and he is just stringing them along right now. This might be the last year that Mike Tomlin coaches that team.
Now for politics. (Again, for anyone new here, I am NOT a Trump fan. I just call it like I see it.) For all of you grading the Trump Presidency already, do yourself a favor: STOP. He just reached 100 days in office. You cannot adequately begin judging a presidency until at least nine months in, so stop trying to act bold and pass judgment. Most of you passed judgment 10 years ago when he first started campaigning! Remember, Trump is President not because he’s great, but because Democrats were worse. On Jan. 20, 2021, they got the ball, and over four years, they dropped it like (insert Giants or Jets receiver here) drops passes.
One question on everyone’s mind: What is he trying to accomplish with the tariffs? Fear not, for I have an MBA! Here’s his thinking…
Trump is leveraging our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and the U.S. Dollar to weather economic chaos. Remember the pandemic? At the beginning of 2020, before COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic, the stock market had just breached a record 29,000.
Then, the pandemic hit. Practically everything was shut down, and the stock market had multiple tumbles, once dropping nearly 3,000 points in a day. At several points, they even shut down trading. Despite all that happened, at the end of 2020, while still under a pandemic, the stock market ended up over 30,000 – a new record.
Currently, the market is at 40,000 on good days. With that in mind, Trump feels that the U.S. can handle short term turmoil while resetting the economic order. However, other countries cannot take such a hit. Outside the borders of the U.S., there is political unrest all over the place. Take the United Kingdom, which has shuffled through FIVE Prime Ministers in the last 10 years alone. How? One word: Brexit. The British Exit from the European Union had consequences still being felt to this day.
Other countries have had their own issues. France almost had a conservative government, and Canada has flirted with one. Germany, Venezuela, the pinch is being felt all over.
Here is where the tariffs come in. Trump is going hard because the other countries cannot afford (literally) to engage in a trade war. So, in order to avoid calamity, they’ll have to accept the tariffs and/or make other concessions.
Not satisfied? Here’s a loose translation: He’s using their plight to screw them over. Other than China, they don’t really have a choice but to play ball. Oh, and don’t let the initial tariff percentages fool you. They will be adjusted depending on what he gets in return.
So, to wrap this part up, what will happen to America? Well, in the short term, you’ll pay more. The other countries will fight back with tariffs of their own. However, a year from now, things should change for the better if his gambit pays off. Remember, in a prolonged trade war, they don’t have the GDP or Dollar power to go 12 Rounds with us.
(For what it’s worth, this is the opposite of what Democrats do: Make you feel good in the short term, but leave you wrecked a few years later.)
Is it ethical? Of course not. Trump graduated from an Ivy League school back in the day. Those schools only started teaching business ethics because so many of their alumni got pinched in scandals that they had no choice but to do so.
So, what’s next? “What about Bernie Sanders and AOC touring the country?” Here’s the problem, and this is just my opinion. If Trump was reelected in 2020, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would be President RIGHT NOW. She would have been the perfect change of pace from what would have been eight straight years of Trump. However, that did not happen. With that, the book might have closed on her presidential ambitions.
Here’s why. We’ve already had an AOC Presidency. It was called, “The Biden-Harris Administration.” Everything they did was pretty much what AOC would do, only what they did was 40 percent of what she would want to do. If AOC ran for the office right now, she would lose. Why? When Trump won the majority of the vote –
(Stop. I know what you’re thinking. I only deal with REAL candidates. Call me back when a Libertarian, Green, or other Party besides Republican and Democrat wins ONE Electoral College vote. THEY. DON’T. COUNT.)
– As I said, when Trump won the MAJORITY of the vote, he did so mainly because of four things. 1. The Economy. 2. The Border. 3. Cancel Culture. 4. Foreign Affairs (conflicts overseas being funded by taxpayer money).
What would AOC do with any of those? Exactly. 1. She wants to essentially print money to support social programs. 2. She’s not closing the border. The only question would be if she still wants to call Hispanic people “Latinx.” 3. She loves cancelling people who don’t subscribe to her opinions and beliefs. 4. Last but not least, with her “print money at will” attitude, anyone she wants to support in an overseas conflict would likely get a blank check.
Oh, and like I’ve said to Bernie before: GO AWAY. You want to complain about “The Oligarchy?” News flash: It’s not just Republicans. If you don’t think that Democrats have “Oligarchs” running their party, there’s a bridge I’d like to sell you.
Plus, you know darn well when that Senate was 50-50, you could have gotten us what we needed. You were supposed to say, “Look Nancy Pelosi (that’s the person who runs the Party, not Chuck Schumer, and dang sure not Faux-bama, or Hakeem Jeffries), you’re going to give me A-B-C or I’m voting NO and killing whatever gets put on the floor!” Instead, you complained – but you voted YES anyway! Face it, when it came to doing what was best for America – and not the Party – Joe Manchin did your job! You’re not an Independent. You’re a joke.
Finally, here’s my take on the New Jersey Gubernatorial Election. Ready? Here goes… PAY ME. Whoever hires me as a consultant wins. I’m serious.
Have a nice day.
