The New York Red Bulls were in action this past weekend at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison. It did not go as planned, as DC United beat RBNY 2-1. DC opened up the scoring in the 35th minute when goalkeeper Luis Barraza played a long ball that led to forward Joao Peglow finding the back of the net. The New York Red Bulls are an even 3-3-3 on the season.

Meanwhile, the National Basketball Association opened its playoffs this past weekend. One of the teams taking the court was the 3-seed New York Knicks. On Saturday at Madison Square Garden, Jalen Brunson led a 21-0 to take down the 6-seed Detroit Pistons 123-112.

Brunson led with 34 points and eight assists while NJ native Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points and 11 rebounds and five assists. Leading the way for the young Detroit was Tobia Harris with 25 points, while all-star Cade Cunningham had 21 points and 6 rebounds. Former Knick Tim Hardaway Jr. had 19 points and Malik Beasley added 20.

Game 2 was a different story, as the Pistons stole home court advantage with a 100-94 win. Cunningham had a game high 33 points while teammate Dennis Schröder had 20 points and a clutch basket to lift Detroit to the win. Brunson had 37 in the loss, while Towns only had 10 points and six rebounds, with none on the offensive glass.

In a bit of sad news, the boxing event set to take place in the city of East Orange on April 26th at East Orange Campus High School has been cancelled. Professionals and amateurs were to take to the ring, with the main fight featuring East Orange native Rajon Chance taking on Yan Carlos Perez in a 10 round bout for the WBA belt.

Finally, the National Football League will host the 2025 NFL Draft starting Thursday. The New York Giants will be on the clock with the 3rd overall pick, while the Jets will pick eight, barring any trades. The first overall pick will be made by the Tennessee Titans.
