Hello Readers,
A new chapter started on January 20, 2025. Donald J. Trump took the oath of the office for the second time. His predecessor Joseph R. Biden Jr. pardoned five of his family members minutes before end of his presidency. Earlier, he pardoned his son Hunter and now he pardons his brother James Biden, James’ wife Sara Jones Biden, Sister Valerie Biden Owens and her husband John Owens and his other brother Francis Biden. Biden was concerned that Trump and his administration will make havoc and politically target his family members. Trump has been politically targeted since he became president in 2016, so Biden felt that payback was coming.
In December, Biden pardoned 37 death row inmates who were facing death sentences. In America, there are hardly any death sentences and Biden commuted them to life in prison without the possibility of parole. It was criticized by many political pundits supporting both parties, including some of the democrats. Out of 40 death row inmates, he pardoned 37. Some of them were serial killers. All of them were dreaded killers. Maybe Biden wanted to save one of them, so by pardoning 37, no one knows who Biden really wanted to pardon individually. This happened many times by the power of presidents in the past.
President Trump’s inauguration ceremony was kept inside the Capitol building due to severe cold. All of the past living presidents were present, even though there were rumors that President Obama and President Clinton would not attend the ceremony. However, Michelle Obama and Karen Pence did not attend. It is good that most attended the event to show the world that we are united when they come to America.
President Trump signed many executive orders. The most impactful executive orders were declaring an emergency at the southern border and the only two genders system. That will impact the LGBTQ community. Now, LGBTQ members have to declare their identity as male or female. There will be only two bathrooms in many facilities.
The Southern Border Emergency order will allow President Trump to allocate money for the border and hire more guards, as well as deploy some military to the southern border. Trump is determined to reduce undocumented immigrants.
Another big movement via executive order is Trump looking to end birthright citizenship for undocumented immigrants. The American government is spending hundreds of billions of dollars for those born in the USA. However, the Trump administration is stating that by this law we are protecting the values of American Citizenship.
Many Democratic states, American Civil Liberty Union, and immigrants’ rights advocates are suing the Trump administration to keep birthright citizenship, as well as fighting the two-gender system and many other executive orders. The attorneys and the government will be busy in the legal system.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
