Hello Readers,

President-elect Donald Trump has been very busy in setting up his Cabinet. Among the most prestigious of appointments is Secretary of State, which will likely be Florida Senator Marco Rubio. Due to the wars in the world, it is critical to pick the right candidate for world affairs.

When President Obama picked Hillary Clinton, the whole world did not have faith in the United States of America, as several wars were going on. The former First Lady and New York Senator had very good connections and relations with world leaders, especially with the support of her husband, President Bill Clinton. There was a feeling she would those resources and stop the wars and bring back dignity and respect for the U.S.

In the same way, right now the world does not have trust in America. Our foreign policy is lopsided. The U.S. is a world leader, but the respect is not there right now. When things go bad, the U.S. pays a lot of money for other nations to defend themselves. Maybe Rubio can fix the problem.

In addition to Rubio, Trump has also picked former acting ICE Director and a very tough man Tom Homan as border czar, Kristy Noem as Homeland Security Secretary, Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary, Elise Stefanik as our UN Ambassador, Mike Huckabee as our Ambassador to Israel, and John Ratcliffe as CIA Director. Maybe his most critical appointment was Susie Wiles as his Chief of Staff. She will be the first woman to ever serve in that capacity.

Finally, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been tapped to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, or “DOGE.” Wow.

Meanwhile, in the NY Hush Money case, Judge Merchan paused proceedings to see how prosecutors want to play it after the Supreme Court ruling on Presidential Immunity. For whatever reason, Merchan wants to keep Trump as a “convicted felon” and not let the nation move on.

Helping Trump in his mission to “make America great again” is a Republican controlled Senate with at least 53 seats, and retained authority in the House, as per the GOP. This will allow Trump to have a say in legislation and spending, eliminating departments, such as removing the Department of Education as he has said, and judicial appointments – including the Supreme Court.

As for Trump’s opponent in the election, reports have come out that despite raising over $1 billion for her campaign, Kamala Harris’ team ended up $20 million in debt. Among the items allegedly paid for were appearances by Beyonce and other celebrities, including money paid to Oprah Winfrey’s production company for a “town hall.” Perhaps the most alarming expense was for a podcast, in which they were said to have built a little studio for a $100,000 price tag. What a case of mismanagement! It looks like the nation dodged a bullet by not electing her. Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign, which had raised far less, ended up with a surplus.

Haiti has been hit by unrest. First, a transition council removed Prime Minster Garry Conille. Now, flights from the U.S. to Haiti has been suspended 30 days because a plane flying there was shot at and had to be diverted. Hopefully, it will get better soon, as gangs have made a mess there.

Newark has seen some changes, as Emmanuel Miranda, Sr. will serve as Acting Director of Public Safety, following outgoing director Fritz G. Frage, who resigned. Miranda will oversee Newark’s police and fire divisions, the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. In a press release, Mayor Baraka said great things about Miranda, but said nothing kind about Frage, who dutifully served the city in its key public safety role. That was unusual, as people who serve usually get a thank you or something like that.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
