On Sunday July 28th, there was a Rally held in Newark demanding justice for Sonya Massey. It was one of several that took place around the nation.

Sonya Massey, 36, was the latest victim of police brutality. She called 911 for some assistance, thinking there was an intruder in her house. However, not long after she was shot in the face by an Illinois Sheriff’s Deputy and killed.

The shooting was captured on video and have been going viral for weeks. People all over the country are outraged, and have begun organizing marches, rallies, and prayer vigils in many cities and states.

Sean Grayson, the officer who fired the fatal shots, has been fired and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct.

It is being reported that Grayson has a checkered past. He was discharged from the U.S. Army for misconduct, has a DUI charge, and had worked for six law enforcement agencies over the past four years.
