THE OBSERVATION BOOTH

OP / ED & PHOTO CREDITS ANDREA DIALECT

It pays to have those geeky-type personalities in your life, I tell ya. I was catching up with my girl Wanda last week, and she brought this topic to my attention.

One Sunday, my daughter mentioned it as well, thus my initial topic has been replaced with this page jacker. This one most definitely is game for our Observation Booth’s ongoing topic starter, “Google That.” Whether it’s true or not, or laden with those hidden gems that often become nooses around our necks which benefit the lives or the stockpiles of those we’ve chosen or hadn’t chosen, who are at liberty to govern us.

WE MUST BECOME THOSE NOSEY NEIGHBOR TYPES WHEN IT COMES TO ALL THINGS AMERICAN, MORE IMPORTANTLY, HUMAN AND THE UPKEEP OF OUR PLANET.

Shaking the cage becomes a whole lot easier and appealing when one comes to realize that they’re being placed in one. Like my boy Marvin Gaye says, “WHAT’S GOING ON,” because there is plenty going on here on the surface, but I betcha that there’s a heck of a lot more going on under it. Don’t be fooled. Beside with all those beloved guard dogs that I see strutting around our communities, While they’re struttin around with ya  or we’re watchin’ ya strut, I think that we’d best learn a few things from ’em. Arf, arf, like that rapper DMX said!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

No, the US didn’t bring back the draft, so we’re told. This is what actually happened…

The US hasn’t instituted a draft since 1973. A proposed change to the NDAA could automate Selective Service enrollment. Eligible men 18-25 are already required to register.

The House of Representatives passed a measure automatically registering men aged 18 to 26 for selective service. It was part of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which sets out the U.S. government’s military and national security priorities over the next fiscal year.

While it hasn’t been invoked in over half a century, it’s mandatory for all male U.S. citizens to register for the selective service, also known as the military draft, when they turn 18. Failure to register is classified as a felony and comes with a host of legal challenges.

Supporters of the amendment argue that it would cut down on bureaucratic red tape and help U.S. citizens avoid unnecessary legal issues, as well as cutting down on the taxpayer dollars going toward prosecuting those cases.

It was led by Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., and passed in the House Armed Services Committee’s version of the NDAA in May. The NDAA advanced through the committee in an overwhelming 57 to 1 vote.

This year’s NDAA authorizes $895.2 billion in military spending, a $9 billion increase from fiscal 2024.

Home security includes both the security hardware placed on a property and individuals’ personal security practices. Security hardware includes doors, locks, alarm systems, lighting, motion detectors, and security camera systems.
