Essex County recently got a visit from the New York Giants’ starting quarterback. Not the regular one, but the current one in Cedar Grove’s Tommy DeVito, who hosted an autograph signing in conjunction with MLSE for football fans at Just Jakes in Montclair. In addition to the many fans, his family was in attendance, with his dad Thomas, mother Lexi and brother Max.
Also on hand was DeVito’s agent Sean Stellanto, who said, “This is a great event. This is a pretty exciting event reaching out to his fans.”
Former high school teammate Wankeith Akin, Jr. gave his support as well. Glen Ridge resident Ben Albers said it was a nice event to attend, and it was a great opportunity to meet DeVito. Tess Dionisio, also a local fan, was excited for the signing.
The signing went well with DeVito coming off his first home victory, as Big Blue took down the New England Patriots 10-7. The Giants secured the win after the Pats missed a field goal to tie with under a minute left. While the Giants won an ugly one at home, the Jets played on Black Friday and got ran out of their building 34-13 by the Miami Dolphins. Among the lowlights was Miami intercepting a first half Hail Mary pass, and turning it into a Pick 6.
