SPORTS WRAP

Thanks to a chaotic week in the NFL, there are no more undefeated teams, and one local team played a part in that.

First, a missed field goal led to the San Francisco 49ers taking their first loss, a 19-17 defeat at the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were able to get the two point lead after a controversial call that helped to keep their late drive going.

As for the other unbeaten, the Philadelphia Eagles rolled into MetLife Stadium, and ran into the New York Jets and their first loss of the 2023 season. Gang Green forced Philly into 5 turnovers, and a 20-14 defeat. The Jets formula of defense, field goals, a Breece Hall TD, and no mistakes from Zach Wilson got them their second win in a row.

While the Jets have been playing quite well without their starter in Aaron Rodgers, the Giants were not so fortunate. Tyrod Taylor had a no so good game stepping in for the injured Daniel Jones on the road against the Buffalo Bills. A late timing blunder in the first half cost Big Blue at least three points, and the team could not pull off any game changing plays.

Despite that, thanks to two missed Buffalo field goals, the Giants had a chance to win late. Unfortunately, Taylor was unable to connect with Darren Waller on the last play of the game in the end zone, leading to a 14-9 loss.

At the end of Week 6, the Jets are 3-3, while the Giants are 1-5.

Finally, the final four of the MLB playoffs are underway. In the National League, the defending NL champion Philadelphia Phillies, who dismissed the Atlanta Braves, are taking on the surprising Arizona Diamondbacks, who destroyed the Los Angeles Dodgers in the previous round. In the American League, the defending world champion Houston Astros are taking on the Texas Rangers.
