Despite a stunning exit by the U.S. Women’s Team, the FIFA Women’s Cup rolled on, and Spain emerged as champions after a 1-0 win over England. This is the first Cup win for the ladies known as La Roja (The Red One). The victory had some controversy, as an official for the team kissed one of the players without her permission, drawing massive criticism.
The Yankees and Mets have been huge disappointments this year, with the Bronx Bombers achieving something that is not in line with their franchise. The Yanks suffered an eight game losing streak, something not seen since a futile period in the 1960s. With other teams in their divisions pulling away, many wonder if the locals could be in danger of finishing below .500.
As the Giants and Jets gear up for their annual preseason matchup, the Washington Commanders beat the Baltimore Ravens 29-28 in their contest. What made the outcome so significant is that the loss snapped the Ravens’ 24-game preseason winning streak.
Finally, in a bit of pro wrestling news, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has set the true paid attendance record for a single day event with over 80,000 spectators set to see the “All In” event at Wembley Stadium this Sunday. This beats the WrestleMania 32 record held by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) since 2016.
While WWE boasts attendance figures higher than that, those numbers are not considered the true paying figure. Not to be outdone however, WWE has set a gate record for the upcoming WrestleMania 40 in April 2024 set to take place over two nights in Philadelphia.
Among those competing at “All In” is Tag Team Champion Daniel “Cash” Wheeler of FTR. This comes in the wake of his shocking third degree felony arrest on aggravated assault charges in Florida linked to a road rage incident. Wheeler has pled not guilty.
