Hello Readers,

State Senators Zwicker and Codey introduced a bill to prohibit future events from LIV (live free) and PIF (Public Investment Fund) which is the largest firm of its kind held by Saudi Arabia. The PIF is controlled by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been accused of killing Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi Arabian dissident. I think the main reason for this resolution from Codey and Zwicker is because it was held at Trump National Golf Club. I agree with the senators, with one addition: they should restrict any donations or profits from any golf tournaments or sports tournaments, whether it is benefited to the Republicans OR the Democrats. However, both parties are supporting PACs and other organizations which can donate, advertise to and for the candidates.

All our representatives support and pass the laws, so they can raise enough money for their campaigns. In 2016, Hillary Clinton raised about $1.4 billion, and President Trump raised about $957 million. The large companies and groups who make political contributions usually gets benefits by asking our representatives to pass resolutions in their favor. So, indirectly we all are paying for the contributions. Slowly and gradually, I lose faith in the system, and for that I blame the people who voted for them. I always try to vote for the best candidate in my opinion, but the majority of them vote for the party rather than the candidates. I am a democrat, and I give an additional few points to the Democratic candidate when I am comparing two candidates, as Democratic policies helps the community more than those from Republicans. However, the Republican-led governments have better managed municipalities or townships in my opinion.

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago raid by the FBI became large and important news. According to The New York Times, the FBI interviewed two members of Trump administrations. The FBI took about 27 boxes from Mar-a-Lago, and out of that it is about 11 boxes were said to have sensitive classified and top-secret documents. If that is the case, Trump and whoever helped him should be punished to the fullest extent of law. But the news media should not act like it is a one-sided game. They should give Trump and his allies enough time to present their side of the story.

Per NPR: “Allen Weisselberg, the longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, is in talks to plead guilty in a wide-ranging fraud case, two people familiar with the case tell NPR. The move comes just days after New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan denied a motion to dismiss the case and set a trial date for late October. Court records show a hearing for Weisselberg was just added to the court calendar for Thursday.”

Rudy Giuliani, a former successful mayor of New York City at the time of 9/11 in 2001 and a Trump lawyer, was ordered to appear in an Atlanta court on Aug. 17. Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney ordered Giuliani to appear regardless of how he comes, by bus, by train or by Uber. He gave an example of a great football player and broadcaster John Madden. Rather than flying to cities around the country to cover football, he traveled in a custom bus known as the Madden Cruiser. Madden suffered three attacks of claustrophobia while flying, which caused him to change methods of travel, according to a 1990 report from Sports Illustrated. This is the right approach by the judge.

Several water main breaks in Newark affects the residents across nearly the entire city. The mayor must find out the cause of it and solve the water problem for good, or there may be even more breaks, causing greater damage.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
