The New Jersey high school football week just finished week six. Despite being on the road against a Pope John football team, the East Orange Jaguars were up to the task and won their 7th straight game, by the final score of 21-13. Leading East Orange was Senior Raeden Oliver with 205 passing yards and Damon Phillips with 125 yards on the ground. The Jaguars are a perfect 7-0 on the season.
In other Essex County towns, the Orange Tornadoes looked to win back to back games at their Bell Stadium home, but fell short to the Livingston Lancers 49-14. Despite the loss, Orange got a spark from Jaylen Dixon who scored on a 78 yard kickoff TD return. The 1-6 Tornadoes will play at Millburn on Friday. Meanwhile, the Irvington Blue Knights won a defensive game against Ridgewood 7-0 to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Switching to the NFL, the Jets were not able to lose this week because they were on a bye. The Giants couldn’t used one, as they got ran over by the Los Angeles Rams 38-11. Giants QB Daniel Jones threw three INTs and had a fumble, while Rams QB Matthew Stafford went 22-28 for 251 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT.
In other news, the New York Yankees announced that they have re-signed manager Aaron Boone to a three-year deal. Finally, the Chicago Sky won the WNBA Finals 3-1 over the Phoenix Mercury to win the title.
