Let’s take a quick look back at Week 3 of New Jersey high school football action. First, Orange High took a hard loss at Nutley 34-6. This weekend, the Tornadoes will be back at the friendly confines of Bell Stadium against West Essex high school on Friday night. Currently, Orange is 0-3 on the season.
On the opposite side are the East Orange Jaguars, who recorded yet another dominating win. The Jags went on the road and mauled Columbia 52-0, improving to 3-0 this year. EO will head to WO, West Orange, Friday night.
In other action the Irvington Knights defeated Hudson Catholic at home by the final score of 32-28, improving to 2-1. Seton Hall Prep lost a razor thin outcome at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City 22-21 in double overtime.
In college football, the Rutgers football team has started off this year 3-0 record with a recent home win in New Brunswick over Delaware 45-15. The schedule will now get harder as Big Ten play will open up against Michigan.
Finally, in pro football. the New York Jets loss their home opener at MetLife Stadium to rival New England 25-6. Rookie QB Zach Wilson threw four interceptions in the loss. As for the Giants, they too are searching for their first win this season, after losing to Washington 30-29 as time expired on a late field goal.
