NEWARK – Several new stores have opened at Newark Penn Station. These include Dunkin Donuts and two new flower shops. Local Talk visited Penn Station not long ago and found out the following.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Newark Penn Station was home to many businesses. These included Hudson News, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, a pizzeria, a flower shop, a liquor store, and two stores selling fast food to eat. There are also stands that sell various types of nuts, watches, hats and clothing.
Once the coronavirus pandemic hit, some stores closed down for good. These included the two snack stores and the flower shop. For the past two years, both locations have sat under lock and key, unused. That may be changing, however.
Dunkin Donuts, which used to have a visible storefront by the main entrance at Penn Station, has announced moving to a new location inside Penn Station proper. The new location is the site of the old snack store. According to an information sign, Dunkin Donuts has moved on or about late August to the new location.
Dunkin Donuts will still be selling donuts, drinks, sandwiches and other food.
Another change is the new flower shop at Penn Station. It is owned by Hudson Flowers. There are two new flower stores. One is located at the site of the old snack store, opposite the entrance to Track 1, Path Train. The second one is located right opposite the first store. Both stores sell flowers such as roses, tulips, and potted plants.
A salesman for Hudson News told Local Talk that Hudson News and Hudson Flowers were two separate, distinct companies.
