The National Football League has finished Week 2 of its preseason. First, the New York Jets are now 2-0 this preseason after a surprise 23-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Rookie QB Zack Wilson led the Jets with 128 yards and two touchdowns.

The next day, the New York Giants lost to the Cleveland Browns after some spirited joint practices. Big Blue took the loss 17-13 with most of the starters getting the day off. Both local area teams will finish the preseason at home, in which the Jets will play their annual contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, while the Giants will host the New England Patriots.

Next week, local New Jersey high school football teams will be in action, with Seton Hall Prep playing at home against Pope John in West Orange, while West Side will be playing this Friday at Northern Highlands.

Finally, Serena Williams withdrew from the US Open due to ma torn hamstring. She joins the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in a list of great tennis stars not participating. If Novak Djokovic wins, then he will earn a calendar Grand Slam, winning all four majors in the same year.
