For the sixth time, Local 108 held a vaccination event to help keep the community safe from COVID-19. As usual, it was held at Local 108’s headquarters at 1576 Springfield Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040.

This time, it was not widely announced like it usually is, so they had less people on hand for vaccination. However, some of those who showed up came for their second shot, and one also came from Middlesex County, and the staff on site were quite courteous in helping him get vaccinated.

They had COVID-19 testing as well, and limited parking for the event was provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

On Aug. 9, the day of the event, Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo dropped by and paid a visit, exciting everyone. Also on hand were Monica Colon, Shelton Thurman, Barbara Lozaw, Marie Dorelien, Kristen Mucha, and Teresa Muse, all from the Essex County Division of Training and Employment – Community Mobile Vaccine.

Now around the neighborhood, people know that Local 108 is a good and convenient vaccination site.
