This past weekend, the city of Newark hosted a youth basketball camp, in which over 100 youth attended. NBA star and former New York Knicks center Enes Kanter, who is a current member of the Portland Trailblazers, was on hand to share his knowledge of the game.
The event was open to youth from all over the city ages 7-14. In a statement, Councilwoman Mclver said, “What a great way to engage and expose our youth of Newark to the game and to learn from an NBA Player.”
In other basketball news, for the first time in 50 years, the Milwaukee Bucks are NBA Champions. The Deer finished off the Phoenix Suns in six games, thanks to a legendary performance from Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored 50 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and had 5 blocks in the finale.
In other sports news, President Biden invited the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the White House on July 20. At the Tokyo Olympics, U.S. tennis player Coco Gauff tested positive for Covid-19 and had to withdraw.
