A former Orange High School all-state player has come back to his community, and is giving back to the youth there.
This past weekend, former New York Guardians XFL football star Jamar Summers held his first ever Ambitious youth camp for area local youth. Over 300 attended this event at Bell Stadium in Orange. The ages ranged at the camp from 5-18, and the 14-18 group had fundamental drills to challenge themselves.
There are many local NFL and former Orange High School football players that Summers played with or against while in high school. Current Giants player Jabrill Peppers took part in this camp, as well as former Orange all-state player, Rutgers alum, and Green Bay Packer Willington Previlion, Tennessee Titan Akrum Wadley, former Seattle Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch, Baltimore Raven Marcus Peters and San Francisco 49er Josh Johnson.
Talking about the camp, Summers said, “I wanted to allow for an opportunity for children in the community to enjoy themselves.” Meanwhile, Orange Tornadoes Head Coach Randy Daniels said that the event was “all about giving back to the community.”
Sharon Bagley was in attendance and was happy that Summers hosted this camp. Her son Malcolm Bagley was an all-state player at Orange High but was killed in an incident of gun violence. She was proud of Summers and his work with the event.
