Two Men Also Charged With Similar Crime

NEWARK – On Dec. 27, Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reported the arrest of Katherine Tinizaray, 28, and Denisse Tinizaray, 26, both of Newark, for maintaining an illegal liquor establishment.

At approximately 12 a.m., detectives of the Newark Police Division’s Vice Crimes Task Force investigated reports of a large party at a warehouse located at 6 Libella Court. Responding detectives observed two woman selling alcoholic beverages from behind a makeshift bar at the location, where over 200 patrons were eating, drinking alcohol and participating in illegal gambling in the middle of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Neither of the two women behind the bar were able to produce the appropriate paperwork proving they held a license to sell alcohol.

Both women, Denisse Tinizaray and Katherine Tinizaray, were arrested with each facing charges of maintaining an illegal alcohol establishment, illegal possession of alcohol and illegal sale of alcohol.

Two days later, Director Ambrose announced the arrests of Argeni Castro-Taveras, 36, and Jesus Vilanueva, 28, both of Newark, also for maintaining an illegal liquor establishment.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., detectives of the Newark Police Division’s Vice Crimes Task Force investigated reports of a large party in the basement of a residence at 33 Taylor Street. Responding detectives heard loud music coming from the residence and, once inside, observed several patrons drinking at tables with Castro-Taveras and Villanueva at the bar.

Neither of the men could produce the appropriate paperwork proving they held a license to sell alcohol. Both Argeni Castro-Taveras and Jesus Villanueva, were arrested. Each faces charges of maintaining an illegal liquor establishment, illegal possession of alcohol and illegal sale of alcohol.

Police confiscated $775.00 in illegal alcohol proceeds along with several bottles of liquor at the scene.

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
