It was a busy week in the sports world. First, in new jersey high school football, West Side High beat up on Orange 40-14, East Orange blanked Montclair 13-0, and West Orange destroyed Bloomfield 62-0. In other games, Belleville beat East Side 32-14, while Columbia upset Shabazz 28-13.

There is some good news for NJ’s indoor sports teams, as Governor Murphy has allowed them to resume activities immediately, with safety protocols required.

In pro football, the NY Giants lost on the road to the Dallas Cowboys 37-34. The win was costly for Dallas, as QB Dak Prescott left with a gruesome ankle injury. Meanwhile, the Jets put up no resistance to the Arizona Cardinals, losing 30-10. Not long after, the team released RB Le’Veon Bell.

The NBA “Bubble” was a success, with the Los Angeles capturing their 17th championship in franchise history, tying the Boston Celtics for the most in NBA history. A 106-93 victory in Game 6 of the NBA Finals gave LA a 4-2 series win over the Miami Heat. LeBron James captured his fourth NBA Finals MVP award as well as his fourth title with three different teams.

In college football, COVID-19 has forced some changes to the schedule. A Vanderbilt vs. Missouri has been postponed until December 19th, while an LSU vs. Florida is up in the air due to some positive tests.

Finally, Major League Baseball lost two legends this past week. First, Yankees legend Edward Charles “Whitey” Ford died at the age of 91. Then, former Cincinnati Reds star Joe Morgan passed away at age 77.
