This past weekend in Newark, it was the annual Never Forget Classic, which is started back in 2016 in support of the Freedom Scholarship Fund and is dedicated to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy.

Two Top 25 teams showcased their talent, with the Houston Cougars defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 94-85 before a crowd of 6,426. Houston started the game with a big lead but saw it cut to 49-41 at halftime. Despite facing a charge from Arkansas throughout, the Cougars would hold on.

Houston was led by Emanuel Sharp with 22 points and Kingston Fleming with 21 points. Milos Uzan finished with 13. Houston shot 51 percent for the game. Leading the Razorbacks was Darius Acuff, Jr. with 27 points and Malique Ewin with 20. Meanwhile, New Jersey native DJ Wagner, the son of Camden legend Dajuan Wagner, had 12 points. Dajuan played for current Arkansas coach John Calipari years ago when both were at Memphis.

Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson said it was an honor to play in the Never Forget Classic during a press briefing.

In other action, the Seton Hall women’s basketball team beat Washington State 74-63, while the men scored a big win on the road over Providence 72-69.

In the NFL, the Giants lost to the Vikings at home 16-13. On the bright side, Big Blue is now in the driver’s seat for the first pick of the 2026 NFL Draft thanks to their awful 2-13 record. Not far behind them are the Jets, who dropped to 3-12 after a 29-6 loss to the Saints.
