This past week the Orange Housing Authority hosted its annual golf tournament and scholarship awards in Scotch Plains.
Participants took to the course to show their game, including in the longest drive contest and closest to the pin. Executive director Walter McNeil and Orange Housing Authority board chairman Clifford Ross were both proud of this event and to give the youth scholarships to help with their educational needs.
Among the students honored was Zayda Tate, a former Orange High Class of 2025 member, who thanked the Orange Housing Authority, her family and friends. Tate has done several community service projects in Orange
Tashonda Moswen, who attends William Paterson University, also received a scholarship. She too has contributed to community service projects in Orange.
Orange resident Makiah Haynes, who is a graduate of the Stem Innovation Academy of the Oranges, was awarded as well. She is now a student at Montclair State University majoring in Biology. Haynes said she is working towards a career in pediatric dentistry, as her goal is to help children.
