This past Saturday, the South Ward Promise Neighborhood Built Brick by Brick held its Thanksgiving Community Neighborhood Luncheon from 12pm to 3pm.

The event took place in the parking lot of St. John’s church on Bergen Street. The neighborhood group fed the people a traditional Thanksgiving meal. DJ Galore was playing great music and kept everyone in a good holiday spirit.

Dominique Lee. the CEO of the organization for 14 years now said, “This was a great way to be involved with the community and to support economic mobility. This is the sixth year we’ve done this event, but the first time at this Bergen Street church location.”

Several of the people walked in off the street into the big tent to receive a warm welcome, resource information and a hot meal.

Hats off to all the volunteers who took time out of their busy Saturday schedule to serve others. This luncheon for the community in the South Ward shows the true spirit of giving at the beginning of the Holiday Season, and put smiles on many faces.
