On September 29, 2023, Smile Train and Dentsply Sirona set a Guinness World Record for the largest online photo album of smiling mouths with 21,274 photos. The campaign was created by Smile Train, a charity that provides free cleft surgery and care to children around the world, to celebrate the uniqueness of smiles and raise awareness for cleft lip and palate treatment. The record was verified by a Guinness World Records adjudicator and celebrated at the Worcester Historical Museum in Massachusetts, the home of Harvey Ball, who created the smiley face in 1963.
