EAST ORANGE – Mayor Ted R. Green, the East Orange City Council, the Department of Public Safety came together to celebrate the 91st birthday for an extraordinary community pillar, Mrs. Alberta Daniels.

Daniels is a founding member of the East Orange Women’s Alliance and one of the first women appointed to the East Orange Board of Fire Commissioners. Daniels is also one of the longest serving members of the East Orange Democratic County Committee.

A longtime resident of East Orange, Mayor Ted Green and the East Orange City Council recently re-named the corner of North Maple and Lafayette Avenues “Alberta Evelyn Daniels Court” in her honor for countless years of dedication to public service.

“Celebrating a formidable community activist and leader such as Mrs. Daniels will always be an honor,” said Mayor Green. “Mrs. Daniels paved the way so that many of us can continue to serve East Orange, just as she did.”
