The New York Red Bulls this past weekend took part in the 2023 League Cup Series against the New England Revolution. Both teams played hard, but at the end of regulation, it ended in a 1-1 draw. Fortunately for NYRB, they got the victory in a 4-2 shootout.

Midfielder Daniel Elderman scored the Red Bulls regulation goal. Keeper Carlos Coronel made a key save in the 4th round of the penalty kicks. The Red Bulls advance to the knockout round this coming weekend.

Fans of the New York Giants got some good news, when news came down that running back Saquon Barkley would take to the field after all this year. Barkley, who was miffed about getting the Franchise Player tag, will play on a one-year, $11 million deal.

In the NBA, Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown is now the owner of the largest extension in league history, agreeing on a 5-year, $304 million deal to stay with Boston.

While Brown is set at the pro level, there is some concern for one player at the collegiate level. USC freshman Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, was taken to the hospital after a sudden cardiac event. He is being kept under observation, but is not considered to be in any dire straits.

Another person who drew recent concern is soccer (football) analyst Shaka Hilsop, who fainted on air right before a match between AC Milan and Real Madrid. He took to social media not long after the episode to ensure onlookers that he was all right.
