The 42nd annual Phil Simms North-South game took place at Kean University on June 11, in which the North won a tight contest 10-6. The game was played at Alumni Stadium, and the all-time series is now tied at the moment.

Leading the North was Rutherford quarterback Van Weber, who toss a touchdown pass to Jefferson High School’s Travis Osterhout in the 3rd quarter. On the defensive side of the ball, Seton Hall Prep’s Jordan McAllister was named the MVP. Meanwhile, the South was led by Burlington City’s Aaron Young and Zarir Davis Roberts.

At halftime, they held the first Girls Flag Football All-Star Game. Leading the North team was Irvington’s Janasia Wilson who passed for two touchdowns and ran for one more. Teammate Faith Phillips also scored a touchdown to help lead the team to a 20-14 win.

The soccer world was shaken by the bombshell news that Lionel Messi, one of the greatest stars ever, would be taking his talents to South beach to play for Inter Miami in the MLS. This is the biggest U.S. acquisition of a soccer legend since the LA Galaxy had the services of David Beckham.

Finally, for the first time in franchise history, the Denver Nuggets are NBA Champions. Denver won the final game of the series 94-89 at home to win the series 4-1. To the surprise of no one, Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic won the Bill Russell Finals MVP award to cap off one of the best playoff runs in history, where he became the first players to lead the postseason in points, rebounds, and assists.
