Hello Readers,

Obviously, everyone is talking about and sharing their opinion for Will Smith’s actions at the 2022 Academy Awards. Before we talk about Will Smith, we must talk about the event. What a change this year in the Awards. For the first time ever, three ladies hosted and opened the show. They are Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes. In women’s history month, this is more important in my opinion than a mishap between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

The majority of people do not agree with Will Smith’s actions. Will Smith has entertained us with his phenomenal acting over the years. He received the Best Actor award, but no one cares because he slapped Chris Rock, a comedian who made a comment about Smith’s wife Jada. Smith actually laughed at the joke, but when his wife got upset, he stood up, went to the stage, then slapped Chris Rock and without any comment he turned around and left the stage. While sitting, he shouted profanely at Rock. I give Chris Rock credit for not reacting and making a scene and spoiling the beautiful event even more. Chris Rock has mentioned that he will not file any assault charges. I used to like Chris Rock, but now I admire him.

Our Content Editor Kristopher Seals said, “Will Smith just had to act ghetto and ruin it for Questlove, Shaq (who won awards) and a bunch of people, especially the winners for ‘CODA’. It’s no secret that she (Jada) likes that thug behavior. What if Chris Rock tried to hit him back? That would have been one of the ugliest scenes in TV history, let alone an award show. When it comes to Will and Jada, they’re basically Whitney and Bobby if they never got hung up on drugs.”

Russia and Ukraine were in the middle of a settlement or ceasefire, but Russia kept bombarding Ukraine in the meantime. Usually, when there are negotiations going on for peace, both sides stop the aggression. But here, Russia continued being offensive. Russian President Putin was talking to the world, but not the main party, which is Ukraine President Zelenskyy. America has nothing to do with Ukraine, but due to geographical strategy, the US is becoming offensive and helping Ukraine with lots of money. First it was $850 million, now Biden announced another $500 million. The US is facing inflation. Even though the employment rate is low (3.8%) the inflation will hurt the economy for the middle and poor class. It is harder to manage survival for millions of families.

Why not to use the money and boost the American economy, rather than thinking about the world? Trump was the only president whose first priority was America. Most of the presidents help the world for their own namesake and prestige. When there is something negative or a reduction of popularity at home, most of the presidents sought the world battleground to divert people’s attention. Also, when there is a war, millions of dollars will be awarded to their friends, family and supporters. We all want to help others, but we must always think about our own budget first, then help others. We do not want to stay hungry while feeding others.

The People’s Organization for Progress has organized a Million People’s March for Voting Rights, Equality, Democracy and Peace. It is really a good effort to unite people and make sure that our basic rights can be awarded to people who cannot fight for themselves. The Million Man March will be on April 4, 2022, on the 54th Anniversary of the Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  on April 4, 1968. It will be at 5:00 PM and will start at Lincoln Statue, 12 Springfield Ave., Newark, NJ.

I would not be surprised that a few thousand people get together and show their support for the righteousness. It is a starting point, and at some point in the future, we will see that the laws will change to protect the rights of the people to participate in the election process. However, we must make sure that there will not be any illegal voting as well, so we elect the person of majority choice.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
