Happy New Year’s everyone. My name is Andrea Dialect, and I am a Writer/Journalist/ Photojournalist. I believe it is safe to say that “Local Talk” played a large part in my being all of the above, when I embarked upon doing the Women’s Section way back when.
I didn’t have any formal training as a journalist, but I am a creative person in my own right and as such I owe my Photojournalism and Photography career to “Local Talk.” Oftentimes, a photographer would not be available for what every reason, and it forced me to do it myself, exposing me to my love for the craft. It has been quite some time, but it is a pleasure being here again. I am looking forward to this new and exciting journey.
For my first submission, I have chosen to take a glimpse back into 2021 kicking off this section of Entertainment with a Life Review of sorts. The person who comes to mind is the late Kam Williams, the person who used to handle the Entertainment Section. Admittedly, I was quite impressed by his extensive body of works and his level of commitment as a Writer. Nearly 10,000 interviews and review submissions. He was a very prolific critic, contributing works to many very impressive industry giants, and a highly educated man clearly, as a Writer of Business Law etc.
It would have been an honor to have met his acquaintance. I was also impressed by the similarities of our humble beginnings. Both of our kickstarts had come off of friendly recommendations. With his passing, the world has truly lost a man of greatness. Mr. Williams was definitely an erudite, and although I am a bit of a novice when it comes to Entertainment Journalism, Mr. Williams has left an amazing blueprint. For that, I am both grateful and confident, and I am looking forwards to an exciting year.
