Christmas Day is set to be big in the city of Newark, as a major boxing event will be held at the Prudential Center. Local area boxers like Michael Anderson from Newark and Rajon Chance from East Orange will participate in this nationally televised PBC Boxing night spectacle.

Dywke Fleming will be fighting in his first ever fight as a pro, while Vito Mielnicki, a former United States national champion and Essex County resident from Roseland, will face off with Nicholas Delomba in the match of the night.

This past week, a press conference was held at the Rock. Among those at the event was Rhonda Utley Herring, Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Athletic Control Board. She said that she was excited about this event, happening for the first time in Newark on Christmas Day.

In the NFL, the Giants lost at home to the Cowboys 21-6, while the Jets lost in Miami 31-24. While both teams took a loss, at least they were able to play their games on the original date, as several games across the league had to be rescheduled due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The NFL was not the only sports league affected, as the NBA and NHL also had to reshuffle games on the schedule. The Australian Open is also facing worries, as it is unknown how much trouble the Omicron variant will cause there.
