The New Jersey high school football season will officially start this Friday. All schools will be in action around the Local Talk area. The East Orange Jaguars will open their season against rival Montclair in the “Rumble on the Raritan” at SHI Stadium in Piscataway at Rutgers University. In last year’s meeting, East Orange shut out Montclair 13-0. This was the first time ever that the Mounties were shut out at home by East Orange.

As for other area teams, the Orange Tornadoes will be on the road against Chatham, in one of several games that will be played at William Paterson University. The Tornadoes finished last season with a 5-3 record. Meanwhile, West Orange’s football team will be playing St. Peter’s Prep of Jersey City. West Orange finished the 2020 season with a 6-1 record. Also, Newark’s Central High s will be playing Lincoln High at WPU

Finally, in pro news, the New England Patriots have cut former starting QB Cam Newton after the emergence of rookie Mac Jones at the position. Also, the New York Mets have faced criticism after several players on the team have taken to booing fans by way of thumbs down gestures toward those who boo them.
