Hello Readers,
It seems like President Trump wants every day to stay in the news. He has a habit of changing his mind many times. A surprise attack with Israel on Iran on Feb. 28 killed their leader, Ayatollah Khomeini. As some reports have it, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khomeini, was hurt in the same attack. Russia has supported him and brought medical treatment, including an operation. Iran has stopped most ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, where 20% of the world’s oil tanker ships travel through. This will bring an oil crisis to the world. In the United States, the price of gas has increased about 25% right after the war began.
Trump was walking and talking very high about the war and stated that he did not need anyone’s help. He already announced that he won the war. However, due to the Strait of Hormuz closing, he changed his tone. He started asking for support from his allies and NATO members. He warned as news stated that NATO will be in trouble and in very bad shape if NATO members do not support US in the war in Iran.
India has made a deal with Iran and stayed friendly. Iran agreed for 4 ships (already shipped from Russia) to pass through the Strait. Already, 2 ships have passed and 2 more will pass within a few days. Also, they are in negotiations for another 18 ships to pass in the near future. Also, India has allowed Iranians to fly from India’s airport Kochi back to Iran.
Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman is going against the Democrats in the Senate concerning the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US. He also supports passing the budget and stopping the lockdown. Now, some Democrats also in favor of passing the budget, as DHS (Department of Homeland Security) is in trouble when it comes to paying the salaries. The DHS shutdown means long airport lines, and the likelihood of more violence and less control will impact the upcoming elections in November 2026.
Oscar and movie lovers followed Oscar night on past Sunday March 15, 2026. “One Battle After Another”was the highest-winning film at the 98th Academy Awards, securing six total awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn. In the past, three movies have won the most awards at 11. Those films were: “Ben-Hur” in 1959, “Titanic” in 1997, and “The Lords of the Rings: The Return of the King” in 2003.
Of course, the talk of the town is obviously Newark native Michael B. Jordan, who won for Best Actor for “Sinners.” The city was delighted by his victory, including his alma mater Arts High School, where he graduated from in 2005.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
