Hello Readers,
2026 has not started off on the right footing, especially for ICE.
President Donald Trump’s excessive force in Minneapolis took the lives of two protestors. The first one we all know is that ICE took the life of Renée Good on January 7, 2026. She was a protestor, and coincidently did not follow ICE officers to get out of the car. She got scared and started her car into reverse and then went forward, in which ICE says that the officer shot her in his defense. Two weeks later, there was another incident, where an ICE officer shot and killed nurse Alex Pretti on January 24, 2026.
While Mr. Pretti made the mistake of carrying a gun near the officers, he had a permit to carry it. I agree that whoever wants to have a peaceful protest should not carry a gun. However, that does not give ICE the right to shoot someone. There are many videos on the internet. Most of the videos are not clear and come from different angles. So, it is harder to make a judgement. However, if ICE is working with the authority, why are would a protestor carry a gun and why are the Democrats pushing people so hard to protest? By promoting protest, the Democrats may get more votes, but some people will get hurt. Do the Democrats care about the people, or do they see them as a means to an end to get elected? Republicans are known for violence, particularly in some sections of the South. We should listen to both parties’ arguments and make our own judgement.
If someone wants to protest, please follow the rules and protest on the side. Do not disturb ICE and let them do their job. Even though we believe that ICE is doing wrong, with the power and their understanding of the law there is much more. Also, once again I remind all of you not to sign any paperwork from ICE if they catch you. Ask to talk to their supervisor and show that you are US citizens or call your congressperson or your home. Do not argue or raise your voice. Our goal of protest should be getting the voice to the masses, not for any political party but for humanity.
The snowstorm of the past weekend affected about 26 states, which is more than half of the country. Many places had more than a foot of snow, including New York and New Jersey. 13 people died in the bad snowstorm. All the governments are working based on their past experience and statistics. So the best way to protect our family and friends is to follow government instructions. Also, try to listen to some health professionals who give advice on how and when to plow the snow. In the US, Valdez, Alaska is a major snow-belt famous for lake-effect snow.
The Patriots beat the Broncos 10-7 and the Seahawks beat the Rams 31-27 to advance to the Super Bowl, which will be played on February 8, 2026.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
