{"id":661,"date":"2020-08-30T20:50:58","date_gmt":"2020-08-30T20:50:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localtalkweekly.com\/?p=661"},"modified":"2020-08-30T20:51:05","modified_gmt":"2020-08-30T20:51:05","slug":"newark-man-sentenced-to-90-months-for-narcoticstrafficking-and-weapon-possession-offenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/localtalkweekly.com\/index.php\/2020\/08\/30\/newark-man-sentenced-to-90-months-for-narcoticstrafficking-and-weapon-possession-offenses\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWARK MAN SENTENCED TO 90 MONTHS FOR NARCOTICS<br>TRAFFICKING AND WEAPON POSSESSION OFFENSES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NEWARK<\/strong> &#8211; A Newark man was sentenced Aug. 18 to 90 months in prison for drug and weapons offenses, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Terrance Bradley, 28, of Newark, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo to an information charging him with one count of possessing with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, and a fentanyl analogue; one count of being a prior felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition; and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Judge Arleo imposed the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the documents filed in this case and statements made in court: On Dec. 6, 2018, members of the Newark Police Department were conducting surveillance near a residence on Renner Avenue in Newark, when they observed Bradley engage in a suspected hand-to-hand drug transaction with a buyer. Upon completion of the suspected drug transaction, Bradley re-entered the residence while the buyer walked a short distance away, where law enforcement placed the buyer under arrest and recovered heroin from the buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Dec. 7, 2018, Newark Police Department executed a search warrant at the residence. During a search of Bradley\u2019s bedroom, law enforcement recovered approximately 3,151 glassine envelopes of heroin and 455 vials of crack cocaine, more than $6,000 in U.S. currency, and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Law enforcement also recovered from the residence more than 200 additional rounds of ammunition of varying calibers. Bradley acknowledged that the firearm, ammunition, and narcotics belonged to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the prison term, Judge Arleo sentenced Bradley to three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Attorney Carpenito credited members of the Newark Police Department, under the direction of Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, with the investigation leading to the sentencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This investigation is part of the Violent Crime Initiative (VCI) in Newark. The VCI was formed in August 2017 by the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of New Jersey, the Essex County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, and the City of Newark\u2019s Department of Public Safety to combat violent crime in and around Newark. As part of this partnership, federal, state, county, and city agencies collaborate and pool resources to prosecute violent offenders who endanger the safety of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VCI is composed of the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office, the FBI, the ATF, the DEA New Jersey Division, the U.S. Marshals, the Newark Department of Public Safety, the Essex County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, the Essex County Sheriff\u2019s Office, N.J. State Board of Parole, Union County Jail, N.J. State Police Regional Operations and Intelligence Center\/Real Time Crime Center, N.J. Department of Corrections, the East Orange Police Department, and the Irvington Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Angelica M.
